The Project Loco
The Project loco is available in both 5" and 7¼" gauges and has proved to be a popular starter loco, or workhorse for a club. Its simple design hides a surprising, yet affordable package. Ideal for small garden railways or larger tracks, it can negotiate raidii of 11 feet and can haul up to 20 passengers (we ran out of people) and is simple enough for youngsters to operate and maintain it. Its removable GRP nose and Plywood cab allow easy access, or an opportunity to customise your loco. The Project Loco is available from £1,395
Information
The Project Loco is a very popular design which is equally at home on the smallest of garden railways and some of the larger semi commercial lines. Our customers are running around 11ft radius curves in the garden and hauling up to 19 passengers on larger railways.
We designed the Project Loco with one aim in mind, to sell lots of them!
In order to do this we had to develop a Locomotive that would meet the following criteria.
- Simple to build
- Good price
- Run all day on one charge
- Easy to run and maintain
- Good passenger hauler
- Run on smaller garden railways
- Have a matching riding truck
- 12 month warranty
Project Locos have been built in original form (the design was influenced by the EMD 1500 Switcher), customers have built Swiss Steeple Cabs, Trench Locos, Tram Engines, Mine Locos, Steam Outline and Character Locos. They have doubled the height, doubled the length, it has been a lot wider and a lot narrower.
We are happy to consider any variation in basic dimensions and to supply full or part locos to your requirements. The riding truck can be supplied the same way, tell us what you would like and we will try to do it for you.
